Altergen are keen to promote any renewable energy devices that save power and CO2.  Since the availability and use of mobile phones, IPODS, laptops and other portable devices has become a part of daily life the energy used to power such devices has increased dramatically, although each individual device doed not require a lot of power on its own, combined with thousands of others the energy used is substantial.  

The more that solar power is used in any form is encouraging, portable devices can be powered by solar energy from any location no matter how remote.
